Cheap Dave's Home Theater

Don't forget seating

What you are going to sit on shouldn't be the last thing you consider in setting up your home theater.

What you are going to sit on shouldn't be the last thing you consider in setting up your home theater.

You need to think about how many people you are realistically going to have in your home theater at one time. If it is mainly you and your wife then don't feel bad about spending a good amount of money to make the 2 of you comfortable. If you like to have guests you may need more.

In our home theater I wanted to be able to seat 4 very comfortably and up to 8 or more for a big event.

We found a home theater recliner set at a local furniture store on clearance for about $1600. It had origiannly been $2,600. This set has four recliners in a row with arms between then but no arm between the center two seats. Each seat reclines and the arm rests have cupholders built. They are also large enough for a miniature dachschund to lay comfortably on them. This set is made by Lane.

I had been looking at similar units on-line. In the end I felt that the ability to actaully sit on it and try it out was worth paying $200 more. I have often shopped for couches and seen a couch I liked but when I sat on it I hated it. So I didn't want that to happen with my home theater system. This unit is very comfortable.

In the back row we didn't have the money right now to get a similar unit and also there wouldn't be room for it to recline. So I am using an older couch set up on a raised platform. This is still a good place to watch the movie from and some people prefer it.

So a good reclining seat is an improtant item to include in your home theater budget.
